A Letter to Residents
Dancing Willows Residents,
At the last Metro Board meeting on Thursday, December 12, 2024, our neighbor Bill Anderson offered to pay for the installation of a flagpole to be placed at the entrance of our community to fly an American Flag. He offered to cover 100% of the material and installation costs, with no cost to the Metro District. He explained the flagpole has no necessary maintenance aside from an occasional flag replacement and it would be lit at night. Adjusting the flag to half staff could be done simply by using a remote control.
The Board took comments from neighbors and had some discussion on the topic. It was noted that there was a survey that previously went out to gauge the community’s interest in a flagpole. At that time, it was proposed that the Metro would pay for the flagpole installation and many community members voiced their opinions in opposition to the flagpole for various reasons.
After taking comments at the December meeting, the Board had determined to table the conversation and take a new community survey that is up to date with Mr. Anderson’s offer and includes more detail. The discussion and thoughts surrounding this topic will be included in the December meeting minutes to be approved at the next regular meeting.
It has come to our attention that Mr. Anderson’s request was posted on a Facebook community page for comments. Please note that this post was not approved by the DW Metro Board, nor is the Metro Board affiliated with any social media page. The Metro Board plans to prepare a new and informative survey in the new year.
Thank you,
Dancing Willows Metro Board
